'Love Will Tear Us Apart'/'These Days' was released in June 1980 amid jokes about Factory's five-year plan. The powers that be were still unaware that they had been part of Ian's own plan, While some people worried about the myth Tony Wilson was trying to create, no one realized Ian had been busy myth making himself. Ian crooned his way through 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' after Tony wilson gave him Frank Sinatra's Forty Great Songs to listen to. When the band were unable to decide which vocal should be used they released both - one on each side of the seven-inch single.

  • This is the best version for me.

  • Every version of Love Will Tear Us Apart is amazing, somehow, they all have a different feeling and you feel like you're listening to a completely new song. No other band in the world could achieve this, which is why the legacy of Joy Division will never die for me, I just feel so sorry for the fact they never quite recieved the recognition they deserved during Ian's days... R.I.P Ian, one of England's most incredible vocalists, from an incredible band!

  • @Oldmisery1

  • Was this version ever released on CD? Not even the Heart and Soul Box Set has this version, though it has the original and BBC versions...

  • i think it is the only song which is not sad

  • @substance74 yeah yr absolutely right-o, i was searching for this one, for having that section stuck in my head. beautiful.

  • have to say i prefer the more famous version, ian's voice sounds more melancholic in it

  • this is the best the beats are perfect check out 1.45 to 1.55 thats what is[perfection ,,,,,,,

  • Nothing short of a masterpiece. This is the definitive version for me. Much more icy. Which really reflects the lyrics. Late 70's England really was a special place and time for truly great music. The Cure, The Police, The Clash, Joy Division, The Jam, XTC, Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Buzzcocks, Bauhaus, Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson, The Damned, Squeeze, Motorhead. Freaking amazing!!

  • While watching the video 20 views added! Amazing! People still love Joy Division!
