In reply to Qmsarge's question:- Back in the eighties after the IRA bombing of Household Cavalry and RGJ band etc. At the time were rushed-in and didn't have the coloured cloth covers seen here on the radios, looked really weird. MOD have confirmed radios are carried, but not whether ECM equipment is too (as some people believe). I'm not surprised they won't talk about that aspect!

Any idea as to what is the purpose of the two wireless operators marching along? When did this act become part of the ceremony?
-
Cheers Marty, that never occurred to me and makes perfect sense!

a member of the corps of drums i believe, carries the casing for the colour on all parades, to cover it in the event of bad weather, presumably the material is delicate. MARTY

One thing I have always wondered, between the two radio ops at the band's rear, there's a Guardsman carrying something over his arm, what is that? (not the band's sarnies, I'm guessing!).

The second Band with the detachment of the new guard, which will guard St James Palace, is now moving off to St James's Palace, along the Mall, and then left into Marlborough Road. St James is the senior of the Palaces, and therefor, the Guard and the Regimental Colour establishes its headquarters there.

Where are the second band off to? Obviously not Wellington Barracks?
Long live the British citizens.

The thrilling song we hear is BRAVURA by Charles Duble. The Band of the Scots Guards' Director of Music brought this march in Britain. It is my favourite, in fact a circus march...
