Not hard at all. If you're going to use software samples like BFD then you will need a MIDI to usb converter. There cheap $50 CAD. And it's pretty much plug and play.

I've ordered a dm5 pro. what hardware will i need to use my alesis dm5 pro with BFD software. Will I need to buy a trigger i/o or can i plug the module straight into the computer?

You will need a MIDI to USB converter. Any music shop will carry them. I show mine in the walkthrough video.

I got the kit and a roland ua-25ex external sound card and i was wondering if u know how to use it with reason/cubase to trigger sounds other than drum sounds eg. sythesiser sound or pre made loops of music.. i got no idea what to do beyond the point of connecting the module to my laptom via the sound card :S great video, inspiring and informative! thanks

Sorry I haven't run cubase or reason. vdrum forum has a few people that are experienced though. You should be able to get help there.
