In Afghanistan its almost poppy season, the basis of heroin production. Correspondent Emal went deep into Taliban-controlled territory and speaks an old farmer who stopped growing poppies because of his conciousness. But hes already considering going back to poppies because it simply pays much better.

  • Screw the US government for destroying Afghan Farmers lives!!! They only have a problem with the poppeyes because they ( USA) have no control over the market unlike their billion dollar prescription drug market, that harms human bodies more than heroin wille ever do !!! LEGALIZE HEROIN WORLD-WIDE !!!

  • The reason the U.S. is in Afghanistan is heroin. People are going to do it, people are going to grow it, governments are going to be involved in production and manufacture whether it's legal or illegal. But, making it illegal increases the demand. Heroin should be legal to protect people from faulty power structures.

  • @1robyn5 Heroin is low on the risk list, esp when compared to alcohol. The adulterants you mention can cause lasting damage, but are unlikely to cause many deaths overall.

The biggest danger to the user is how strong the cut is, as it can cause sudden death.

Legalizing/decriminalising H would give greater control over the problem, this is something which is out of control at present.

Having said that, a large amount of research should be done before changing any drug laws

  • @1robyn5 You make a very good point for legalizing heroin . I hope you realise that: If Heroin was legal ... the drug would be controlled by the government and taxed. So the purity would go up to 100% ( no adulterons and NO unwanted "sideeffects" by harmfull substrances, that are present in street-drugs.

  • @NaturalBornHedonist Heroin is illegal for a reason. It's not only the drug itself that does harm to the people who take it, it's the adulterants used also. You know, it's not unheard of that people have seizures and die because of this substance. THAT is why it is illegal. Of course, there are always idiots who will STILL take it regardless of its legal status. Let's just say this, would you enjoy injecting brick dust, chalk, talcum powder or cleaning powder straight into your veins/muscles?!?!

  • Wait, is he really talking about wheat? 60-70 tons of wheat every year? Doesn't sound right.

  • @NaturalBornHedonist LEGAALIZE HEROIN ? ARE YOU FUCKIN NUTS? have you ever seen what heroin does to 1 person. have you met someone who is on heroin 3 times a day? If so. HOW THE FUCK CAN U ASK TO LEGALIZE IT? Think about your children, your futur generation. Its the hardest drug to stop. And it does so much damage. I can understand you might want to legalize marijuana... BUT HEROIN? If canada ever legalize's heroin. Ill kill the bastard who made tht decision rofl (sarcasm)

  • @ethanmnagy Acutally....they're right. Prohibition makes an underground market filled with dollors and blood. Regulating it takes it out of the hands of street dealers and promotes more healthy products. Ask any kid in america what's easier to buy: weed/meth/coke/H or Alchaol and they will tell you...alchol is harder to buy...and that's only because it's legal. If the make alchol illegal again, kids will get easy access to it. Those are just the facts

  • @NaturalBornHedonist

you're a dumbass. legalize heroin??? probably the worst idea i've ever heard.

  • heroin addicts should all get deported to afgahnistan or colombia

  • @ontariobuds The DEA wouldnt be so happy about a large poppy crop planted out side someones house.

  • @upunkpunk I never said make it legal. You could still have a highly illegal crop right here in the western world.
