The Witchfinder inspired by, 1/ Their mutual fascination with the Wickerman film and its Paul Giovanni soundtrack, 2/ by a rare live recording of a Led Zepplin track 'tangerine' which featured the Indian dilruba and 3/ fuelled by a childhood terror of witches the Amorphous band became obsessed with witchcraft and paganism and the idea of creating a track which evoked and captured these sensibilities. Struck by the idea that the witch was mearly a woman who saw other dimensions but who had been castigated and ultimately burnt because of these abilitys they quickly saw a similarity with her and all the other enlightened masters who had been killed / maligned for similar insight.
