  • Good video but I dont like the use of a blower door (I am BPI certified) because it exaggerates air leak or creates flow that normally wouldnt exist. Most of the air leaks and all of the missing insulation would show up anyway in the infrared.

Im curious as to how you approach making or suggest making repairs to insulation missing in wall cavities? It is a common problem I find.

Looking forward to viewing the rest of your videos.

  • @TexasHomeInspector

Thanks for checking out the video. In Florida the temperature difference is not always good for thermal inspections so the blower door has to help expose problem areas. Other wise I would agree.

  • I own two thermal camerals. This new trend of auditors going around nit picking 2% of the envelope providing plenty of oohs, and ahhhs but never smart enough to calculate the return. I can already tell you havent used REManything. Inflation avg. is @1%, the dollar has lost @98% in 100 years. I will let you in on a little secret, INSULATED WALL MAKES UP ABOUT 3% OF THE AVG. ENEVELOPE!! Please tell me how 3% of the enevelope makes a big difference in ANYTHING? Remdesign will show you this, use it

  • @HomeEnergyNow In a perfect world REMdesign is useful, in the real world not so much. Insulation installed correctly (notice I said correctly) makes a big difference, not only in cost but building performance. Do an infrared scan of your latest job, crappy installation makes the REM worthless.

WTG on that 3%, inflation is about that not including cost of gas and food.

  • @Extra44Files The trucks make me an expert at the high cost of wall fill, is english not your first language? Knowing exactly the cost unlike you, and owning a copy of REMdesign, I usually get pretty close on ROI. If you want I can send you a link to a 60day trial and you can learn something important today about cost return. Homes here for WAP use the software NEAT which will only pass 20year or better ROI, wallfill rarely makes it there too, and neither calculate inflation/mortgage interest.

  • @Extra44Files I just signed on a 3% LOL thanks for making me feel better about it! Try investing more I guess? Well, show me a greater than 1% ROI for wall fill on the average 11seer 80AFUE or better home here and I will discuss more "physics". When there are so many other areas to fix in most homes, unfortuneately wall fill just doesnt make sense in most retrofits, with most peoples budgets. Once had a 130 year old home no insulation, tell me about time and what you read I love stories.

  • @HomeEnergyNow I’m not sure how owning a couple of trucks would qualify you as an expert on rate of return of wall insulation or anything else. Given you’re flawed logic and you’re inability to understand the effects of heat and moisture flow through walls over time, it would be a waste of my time to discuss elementary physics with you.

Your ignorance is exposed by thinking there is any legitimate CD paying 3% at this time. You really need to stop sniffing that fiberglass, destroys the brain.

  • @Extra44Files Is it inexpensive to fill walls with insulation, I wouldn't know I only own multiple insulation trucks......idiot. Its over 1$/sqft to fill walls after the home is done.....please put that into your return on investiment calculator and tell us when it pays pack dipshit? Oh, you mean there is like a 1% return on wall filling? And any CD will pay you 3%? There is your stupid.....stupid.

  • @HomeEnergyNow Insulating walls will is beneficial and saves energy and money, inexpensive to do. Don’t be so damn stupid.

  • @TexasHomeInspector Most of the leaks would show up anyway? LOL First year BPI huh? How bout when it's 72 degrees outside? If you are BPI than you would know the answer to wall filling......it won't pay back. The blower door simulates wind on walls, nothing unrealistic about the infinite ways wind/shutting doors/unbalanced A/C can affect a home. Did you make up the blower door unrealism thing yourself or did one of BPI's quality instructors teach you that.
