I really don't like how they replace the Canadian narrator with a British one in the international version of this program. The Canadian one is much better.
I understand all hydrolic systems fails but to turn the plane left why not gun the right throttle and idle the left the turned it right by doing gunning the left and idling the right? As a pilot myself on a twin turbine plane due to the fact they turned off the #2 engine they were essentually flying a Boeing 777 or 767 so it should be possible to turn right and left with the configuration the dc9 was flying on at the time

I'm a pilot too and to anser your question the rudder even if stuck could be overridden by the engines

@anderaan Was it possible that rudder was stuck in one position and they couldn't move it due to loss of hydraulic fluid?
