12 Year Old Charged with Murder

With shackles clanging as he walked, a 12 year old Florida boy has become the youngest person in Jacksonville to be indicted on murder charges as an adult.
Cristian Fernandez pleaded not guilty today to beating his two year old brother to death.
His public defender has been trying to get the case heard in juvenile court, saying Fernandez is emotionally and psychology younger than 12.
The case has re-ignited the debate over whether children accused of heinous crimes can be rehabilitated.
Fernandez's next scheduled court appearance is July 21.

@TheCichlidGeek I feel bad for the kid. I do. I know it wasn't his fault he grew up in the households that he did. Maybe it isn't right for him to be around only adults, but like you mentioned, he definitely shouldn't be let free for a very, very long time. Who knows exactly how effected he is? I'm sorry, I hate to imagine him harming or killing anyone else.

a life is a life no matter wat age wen u kill a person no matter wat age, they dont die in a special way murder is murder........ but life is to much for any 1 at least 20 yrs o 30 but not a life time

wow this is some fucked up sh!t now my question is why did he kill his brother???? i have emotional problems i shot somebody in the knee before from my anger problems but id never kill my brother this is fucked up only a kid and going through these charges i have a my friend has a 16 year old cousin and she stabbed her sister to death and is being charged as an adult smh

@aGwEENapple I can only agree with you on this one, but I don't think a 12 yearold should be trialed and and incarcerated as/with adults. Not saying he should be free to walk around either, he should be locked up in a mental institusion or simular and not see the outside till he is found healthy and that might very well be never. I feel it's a given that anyone with just a hint of empathy, will feel sorry for the baby brother. But no matter what, the offender is still only 12 years.

@TheCichlidGeek I'm sorry, but you kept mentioning how screwed up this child was but never mentioned how horrible of a crime he committed. It almost seemed to me as if the murdered child did not matter. I feel bad this kid grew up in a horrible environment but I can't think of him without thinking of the brother he killed.

Maybe if he does get years of counseling, he can see the wrong he had done. It's just a horrible situation. Unfortunately, he killed a baby. That's never going to be undone.
