Can you use this system to cool the house in summer by transfering the heat from the house back to the ground? Basically reversing the system.

there is no such thing as global warming

The problem in the UK is that the gas price still is very low. Not much of the more enviromental friendly sources will stand a chance. In Sweden where I'm from Air/Air, Air/Water and Water/Water systems are widely spread. If I'm not incorrect then Bosch uses IVT heatpumps under Bosch label.

Sounds ideal if you want to bore your dinner guests but if you just want to heat your home i would advise gas.

is the cost of installing the pump lower if it is installed in a new build? as there will already be groundwork getting done/could be designed into the plans

@stonedtothaabone Thanks for your query.Costs for ground source heat pump installations vary because each installation is unique. GSHPs are ideal for new-builds and taking groundwork into consideration as part of the project could be beneficial. We recommend speaking to our Technical Support team (0844 892 3366 or technical.enquiries@uk.bosch.com) or Worcester Accredited Installers (see the 'Find an Installer' search on our website worcester-bosch.co.uk) for more advice. Best regards, Worcester.

@bobsy49 Thanks for your query. The Greenstore ground source heat pump is for heating only. We do offer an air to air heat pump which offers both heating and cooling (there is a testimonial on our channel), however, rather than being the sole source of heating for the home it should be used as supplementary heating/cooling for conservatories or large lounges up to 100m2.

I asked someone who had this done about the pro's and con's and she said that her heating bill was very cheap and her house was warm.....but it cost her £9,000!
Not everyone has that kind of money to invest nor the land to accommodate the system. I reckon it's great but it looks complicated and I wonder how much ongoing maintenance bills would be. It hardly looks like a system amenable to DIYers.
Mind you, I can't see that dinner guests' opinions of your heating arrangements are relevant.

@exchangeisno Hi, thanks for your query. You're right, initial outlay for a ground source heat pump can be between £7,000-£13,000 (source: Energy Saving Trust) as it can involve substantial groundwork. No ongoing maintenance is generally required though. A possible alternative is an air to water heat pump (which does not require any groundwork) - there's a customer testimonial on our channel. If you'd like further info our Technical Support dept can help - 0844 892 3366. Hope this helps.
