Another of my favorite skaters who never won gold. Lyrical, distinctive, musical. I miss her.

Her mother always knew more than every coach, every choreographer, every trainer. Always. She meddled in everything from morning to night, every single day. She watched every second of practice and would comment constantly and interrupt all the time. She was also EXTREMELY demanding of Tiffany and was constantly "at" her. I think she finally just destroyed all of Tiffany's joy and enthusiasm for skating with her ignorant antics. An emotionally abusive monster and a total a-hole.

Beautiful skater, perfect triple flip here - she fought back as best she could from a recurring injury a few years after this video took place which probably cut short her career. Still she did pretty well for herself in her career. Even against today's skaters i prefer to watch her!

Why does her mother have such a bad reputation? Anybody know? I keep reading that her mom was horrible to work wiht, and kind of kept her career from getting better.

@skatesindreams I have to correct myself, as I am watching this again. This wasn't on Tokyo Broadcasting System; rather, this looks like a TV Asahi coverage, with Junko Hiramatsu (an ISU official then) as the analyst. I have a collection of Beta tapes and this must be among them--but I don't have a working Beta VCR! I guess I need to hit eBay and get myself a Beta VCR...

Thanks for posting this on YouTube skatesindreams. I always wanted to see this particular championship from 1984, but never got a chance for 24 years, until now! I have always loved Tiffany (and her skating, of course!).
