Matthew R. McClain, a Dayton Fire Department Lieutenant, has been promoted to the rank of Captain. Captain McClain joined the Dayton Fire Department as a Firefighter in March of 1995 and was promoted to Lieutenant in June of 2002. Upon graduating from the Fire Academy, he was certified as a Firefighter, an EMT-Basic, and a Fire Inspector. As a Firefighter, he was also trained as a rescue technician and certified in multiple rescue disciplines. Captain McClain obtained a Fire Instructor certification and served as the Training Center Lieutenant for over two years. He has worked as the Lieutenant on Engine 14 since 2008. McClain has received two unit citations for notable performance: one for work performed when two Dayton police officers were shot in the line of duty and one for the rescue of an elderly couple from a house fire on May 30 of this year. Captain McClain's new assignment is West 2 Relief.
