DES MOINES, IA--Lee made several community visits.

Mayor Cownie, Councilman Moore, and Councilman Coleman spoke at Des Moines Neighbors. The Des Moines Historical Center featured an exhibit of trolleys, electric trolleys, and interurban railroads in Iowa. Following a closed-door session, the Des Moines City Council made board and commission recommendations. The council members discussed CDBG and TIFF funds and commercial property tax. Also, redevelopment at Merle Hay Rd and Douglas Ave, post office closures, and public transportation.

Lee discussed the role of the new general manager at Des Moines Area Rapid Transit and the possibility for same-day delivery service by DART. She shared more of the joint periodical by Meredith Corporation and Drake University's School of Journalism—think. She also shared the end-of-fiscal-year legislative round-up by the Des Moines Register.
