@tck661s bullshit!! why do architects think they are better than drafties, u cant compare the two, people with heaps of money who dont give a shit about getting overcharged go to the architects and people who are on a budget go to the drafties, simple. im a draftie myself and ive lost count how many times we had client come to us with architectural drawings that we had to work how it goes together because 'architects' can come up with a great design but lack in detail and how it goes together

Building Designer's (draftsman) try to summit the plans and they get rejected or the council request additional information and they go back to the client requesting more fees and then bag council, almost every week a someone rings me up or emails me plans that they want me to "fix up" for council they have ether paid nothing or thousands of dollars sometimes more than what I would charge, something needs to be done to protect Qualified, Insured professionals who use licensed software.

@tck661s A Building Designer (draftsman) will have at least 2.5 years schooling behind them and be registered by the Building Practitioners board. Yes, it's possible to draw your own plans without having a qualification, but these plans will then have to be checked and signed off by a registered practitioner and go through the same town planning process as any other design.

Only 10 % of Architecture graduates get registered as Architects as there is no money in being an Architect in Australia, Why ?, Because your competition will be Plan Drawers and Building Designers who (unlike any other profession or trade),don't need any qualifications or experience to do there job, they download illegal copies of drawing programs of the net and start designing buildings and houses and there is no laws or regulations to stop them, thats why the bult environment is a mess.
