Using an HP 606A Signal Generator at 15 mc, transmitting to a 1944 built SX-28A. The audio chain starts with old time radio (MP3) downloads from the public domain site, Internet Archives. Then played on a laptop pc on the Windows Media Player. The signal is fed by audio-to-RCA cable to a Yamaha amplifier to drive modulation in the Signal Generator and ultimately to the antenna.
You will hear President Franklin Roosevelt address congress on December 8, 1941 (about 4.5 minutes) before a cut-over to the WW2 popular show broadcast by the Armed Forces Radio Service, "GI Jive".
Enjoy radio almost exactly as you would have heard it on this receiver with its broad range PM-23 Speaker.
Does anyone use a 606a as an exciter?

I think this video is very cool. I have built several am transmitters over the years to broadcast into old radios. I have also used 1000 Kc oscillators but never thought of using a signal generator! That is so cool! Also I think that the Hallicrafters "SX 28" is one of the most beautiful radios ever made.

Spooky almost, just think of all the people who actually heard this, back
then, on a Hallicrafters. I wished they
were still made. Nice Radio...
