Didn't your father teach you any manners! he should've but he didn't have any!lol! I'm glad there was a little bit of humor knowning the sadness that is on the way!

Yes, but I will never buy that writing her exit necessitated the decimation of these beloved characters and past history.

At the time, they were looking for a way to have an exit for Genie. That time, I think she was the one that wanted to leave the show for a while. I've often wondered if she felt as terrible about how they chose to allow her exit as we fans did. I know that she insists on working with Denise whenever she comes back. She said once that she remained a big part of her life. I can't imagine that any of the three Genie, Denise, or Chris were happy that their fans were slapped in the face this way.

My memory is a bit more fuzzy on Rick and Lesley, but I do remember loving them back in the day. The thing I don't understand is what TPTB hoped to gain with this storyline? Who exactly did they think would love this? They might not have respect for the actors, but the fans do. They might think that anything goes, regardless of the character, but fans are fiercely territorial when it comes to their faves. I just don't get it.

Yeah, you're right and if you could have seen the scenes between Rick and Lesley that weren't in those clips back then, you would really be infuriated. It's unforgivable to me. I know soaps don't follow any rules and pretty much anything goes as far as s/l but there should be some sort of ethics code among writers that they have to at least respect the history of what other writers have done out of professional courtesy.

It really is horrible. It was painful and infuriating enough at the time, but even more so after watching the wonderful 1979-80 clips. Seeing them back to back like this makes the enormity of what TPTB threw away all the more clear.
I know I am repeating myself so I do apologize, but I HATE the fact that they didn't even allow Denise a decent participation in the destruction of her wonderful character's history. During the discussion of this mess, Luke, Laura, and Lucky should have been more outraged at how Rick treated Lesley (even though we know this is total baloney to begin with.) Chris and Denise in the same scene and not even a nod to each other and it was the last time it was ever right for Luke and Laura. How sad!

I agree but destroying legacy characters and their history is what GH does best...truly unfortunate for the audience and the actors.

I know poppy it is pathetic. So strange that they didn't capitalize on GH's great history, that they choose to trash it at every turn. It makes no sense.
