I feel like an idiot, all these years I thought it was Tom Petty, and it's Cracker! However you gotta admit, the guy sounds EERILY similar to Tom Petty. Definitely an influence on the song, and music. Either way, a badass song and band, and Tom Petty is definitely a badass in his own right! I mean seriously, the "Don't Come Around Here No More" video. GENIUS!

I like this riff but I have to disagree with the century you call the year's that rulz..The 90's were just a continuation of what the 80's produced.They had band's that made it big and they started in the late 60's,70's and in the late 70's, 80's music had video's so we could see all the great band's that we couldn't hear because we never knew of these band's.When the 1980's begun,I turned 14 and got into old classic band's,Black Sabbath,Led Zeppelin,Iron Maiden, The Who,AC/DC,ect..80's ruled!!!

A bunch of us are about to do "The Man Dance", prolly more like "The Man Mosh", if we don't get some clarification soon. Please someone with some knowledge help us out. Is this song about a girl or is heroin the "girl"? We have googled and came up with only more arguments. Proof positive, although I don't know where you'd get it except from the horses mouth, might save a life. Seriously though, it might give new meaning to the term "saving face".

@PickStar81 It is about a girl. but as poetic license the songwriters are tipping their hat to The poet Baudelaire and the band The Gun Club, which both compare a girl to addiction to opiates. Also the wizard of oz.

Lol, why would you care what some youtube commenter has to say about this song being a Tom Petty song. Let em say it was made by Hitler and proof Elvis and Paul mcCartney never landed on the moon. Idiots will always just be idiots, arguing with them is a waste of time, and believe me ive wasted my share of time.

@gladtobeangry
Well because we enjoy arguing with idiots. It's fun.
And really we realize it's quite funny.
About 4 years ago people kept coming to this channel insisting this song was a tom petty song.
