Even if we open another 1000 oil rigs and completely get off foreign oil the follow remains true.

The cost of oil will triple as China and many other countries move their people to middle class. THE US CANNOT STOP THIS

Global oil costs will still be in the hands that have the most of it, IE Saudi Arabia.

Europeans are excluding oil as a source of energy. Therefor they could care less about the cost of OIL.

Who would want to keep using a volatile product as their main energy source, who?

regardless of global warming it makes sense to harness fuelless sourses of energy no polution is a good thing the tech already exist all that is needed is a will to stop use of all fuels it wont happen overnight and it wont be easy but it is the responsible thing to do for our children cheap clean energy would do more for the economy than oil ever did but then that creates another problem what do we go to war over but im sure ther is already a long list of other bs reasons for that.
