In this video I take a tour of the Nikon D3100. The D3100 is Nikon's entry level DSLR and it packs a lot of features into a small body. It features a 14.2 megapixel CMOS sensor that allows for full 1080p HD videos at 24 fps, a 3 inch display and solid performance up ISO 3200.

  • This camera is what I need...but I have to ask you a question "Can I record 1080p in stereo sound ?"

  • @vsighi It's got a single mono microphone but it does record in 1080p at 24fps. The audio isn't great though, you're best off using an external mic like a Zoom H1.

  • You can, of course, mount a microphone on the DSLR, but it has to be one with a built-in recorder that can be mounted onto the camera somehow; an example of such a device is the Zoom H2 which can be mounted to the camera using a cheap hotshoe-to-tripod-screw adapter. The downside is that you'll have to manually add and sync the recorder's audio with the camera's, but it shouldn't be all too hard. If you want to, you can even use a clapperboard.

  • @MelonStorm You are exactly right. Since I shot this video I now use a Zoom H1 mounted on the hotshoe.

When I go to my live view, I'm not seeing the auto, afs, etc. like at 1:30. It's been there up until now, and I just noticed it today. Did I maybe press a button or do something by accident?

  • @volleyballlover1913 Yep. Just click the Info button, that toggles on and off info on live view.

  • Does the Canon T3 have a mic input? Also, how would you compare this to this Canon T3 Just for video?

  • Can't wait to get this camera!

  • my ;ove Nikon

  • @szi2010 Probably is because you focus in low light conditions, in that cases you need to select the central autofocus dot on the viewfinder so the camera will turn on the autofocus assist (the af-light). Chose the af mode pressing the i button, you have probably selected single point af, choose auto and the camera will do everything by itself. Hope that was the prob ;)
