I doubt it's the fact that they're "massively straight" that is pertinent here - it's their other beliefs. Regardless how you look at it, homosexual or lesbian sexuality will not reproduce - while 'straight' sex will.

I'd guess they came from a time when children were more likely to die.. so keeping people 'straight' means a lot better chance of perpetuating the human race. No offense intended, but if our world were to suffer a catastrophe, how do you propose the human race continue with a stack of people engaging in none functional sexual activities?

Ultimately, the point of sex isn't fun (that's just a positive side effect)... it's to procreate.
