Here I cover the brand new college campus of Central St. Martins, part of the University of Arts (UAL). This new build is part of a new development programme in Kings Cross with this building costing £200m alone.
We also compare the difference of this iconic and impressive new build against the 60 year old tower block at the London College of Communication in Elephant & Castle, which also belongs to the UAL trust.
Filmed 17 October 2011 and edited 18 & 19 October 2011.

  • I am sorry but I don't think it's fair. I'm from csm, even so,I think that you can't compare 2 universities that have been built in different years. Of course KX looks beautiful and clean etc... it's new! Let's wait until a couple of years and see what happens. At the moment it's on the spot so every one from the direction wants to keep it new. But lets look at things that make an art school an art school such as:at kx you can't screenprint or hang things on the wall. But hey, it's so clean!

  • @lidiagng3 As video journalism students it is our role to cover what is relevant, and at the time, the first day of term, this new build had to be a major story for Arts London News. As well as this, our role is to pose an argument and look at both sides of a story and this was our way, as LCC students, to show our concerns and campaign for something to happen for us - and it has made a difference and get the people higher up to explain their plans.

  • omg im going there this year (hopefully) whyyyy you show this to me T___T

  • I believe that the new building will look much better when we make it look like an art school. Rather than looking like a shopping mall!

Remember not to compare buildings, but the education you receive from your college.

I think personally think that the new building will look much better when ownership is applied from its students.
