Arm Chair Critics is What YouTube is FOR: I gurantee you, if he is any good at all, as you claim, he will be embarrassed that he ever published this performance for the world to see. It is pathetic. Without Any Engergy or Spirit. That you Continue to Defend a Performance That All the People who have Listened to It Here AGREE (except for you, who are not watching & listening at all to What Is Up There) THIS PERFORMANCE SUCKS!!

I agree with you. Still maturing but surely lot of talent. Also you are right about the table player's name. There is another video with the right name - from the same concert and that is good as well. He really plays the drut -taal really well. Would love to see where he ends up.

Also he gave a nice performance and you surely critisized him for his lack of eye contact which is unfortunate. I did not see his dog vs maestro status be judged from his lack of eye contact a fair assessment. Maybe if you had indicated his lack of ease with complex meends then that just means he is good but needs more experience and have his composition settle down in energy etc.. but you did not betray an understanding of the music or the instrument.

My earlier reply got lost but I was saying that eye contact is not an indication of anything at all. Probably you have seen a hack and not ravishankar.. Coz ravishankar mostly gets too engrossed in his music to focus on those gestures. Check him out. Also probably ravishankar is not even a right comparison for him. You should have probably compared him to Amjad ali khan :-)

But you who probably has not yet given any indication of any understanding of the music were too rushed to critisize a very nice performance. And probably you dont even know what his tutelage is or (i might even go ahead on a conjecture and claim) that you probably dont even know what raga he is playing. In any case, my only point is that it was a decent performance by an upcoming artist and he did pretty well except with arm chair critics like you.

my dear sachinv: You apparently have never seen Ravi Shankar in concert, who these poor dudes resemble as much as a dog resembles a man. Am I expecting them to play without looking at their instruments? OF Course!! A Pure Musician BECOMES His Instruement. If he needs to look at his hands, well that is good indication, he needs to study with a Master; Practice! Practice!=This is not even a Good Imitation of Professsional Work.
