Chapter 15 Part 1
Smiling

(Chapter from Nick's point of view)

Katie is doing better. Thank God! Today is Saturday and we're leaving in a week to go back to the Burning Up tour. It's a really nice day out. Everyone's at the table, talking and eating.

- Hey Katie! Kevin, Nick and I are going to the soccer field after breakfast. Wanna come with us? Joe asks
- Euh...she hesitates
- Common! A bit of fresh air will do you good! Kevin says
- Gosh! I feel like I'm hearing Mom! Haha! Katie says
- They're right Katie! Go with them! Mom says
- Okay fine...

We get out and Kevin brings the soccer ball. Soccer is a sport that we all enjoy. I actually was in the soccer team at school.
- Hey! Who wants to race till the park? Joe asks
- Me! I say
- Me two! Katie says
- Kevin? Joe asks
- Nah! Count me out, I'll stick with carrying the ball! Plus, I'm keeping my energy for our big game! Kevin answers
- Okay! But you declare the start! Katie say
- Okay everyone! Welcome to the Jonas race! Our runners are ready, in position! 3...2...1...GO! Kevin says

We all start running. Katie's probably going to lose but I'm happy she participated. It shows she has a willingness to have fun. That's good. Phew! We're all running really fast and pretty much neck to neck. I push a little and get ahead.

- Ouch! Joe screams as he trips over a branch
- Ha! Ha! Kevin laughs

I'm ahead. Well, I guess I'm gonna win. I love running. It makes you feel so free.

- Hey you! Katie says as she goes pass me

Hey! I didn't know she was so fast! She's quite ahead of me now.

- Go Kaaaaaatie! Joe and Kevin scream

I give it all and run as fast as I can. I feel like I'm fleeing. Like if my feet weren't touching the ground. In fact, I can't really feel my legs. It's the most awesome feeling. Like if nothing could stop you, like if you were completely free. I'm right next to Katie. I can hear her breathe at the same time as me. It feels like that moment lasts forever. Finally, she gets in front of me and wins the race. We both are really out of breath and we fall on our backs in the grass. I look at her. She's smiling and her eyes are closed. It's been so long since I've seen her smile.

- Congrats sis! You're really good. I never knew you could run that fast.
- Thanks! Aaah. It feels so good to run doesn't it?
- Yah

We just stay there and stare at the sky.

I can hear Kevin and Joe arriving.

- Yah Katie! Kevin says
- Wooot! Joe screams
- Thanks guys! Katie says
- Since when do you run that fast? Kevin asks
- I don't know...I've really changed since you left.
- Yaa, we can see that! Joe says
- You know I've been playing soccer for a while?
- For real?! Nick asks
- For real! I'm not the best...but I'm not the worst either, Katie says
- Well! Let's get the game started! Kevin says
- Show us those skills Katie! Joe says

It's me and Joe against Kevin and Katie. Whoa! Katie's real good! Who is she kidding; I'm sure she's the best in her team. I guess this proves how much we've missed of her life. We don't really no her that well. We have a lot of fun and finally the game stops 3-1 for Katie and Kevin.

- Who's the best! Who's the best! It's us! Oh yeah! Kevin screams
- Tssss, if you hadn't Katie you would of lost! Joe says
- Ya, I guess! Way to go Katie! Kevin says
- Where did you learn all those tricks?! I ask
- I watched a lot of the games at school and tried to imitate some of the moves the guys would do.
- Cool! I say, I'm really impressed
- Thanks
- Common let's go and sit somewhere. I'm kinda tired, Joe says
- Good idea! Kevin says
