i understand that simple physics dictates that stopping the thing is going to take a few miles, even if it is traveling at a slower speed.....you nonetheless gotta LOVE the attitudes of trains n their engineers.....IM NOT GONNA STOP, IM A TRAIN>!!!!!!

A train engine by itself could stop pretty fast. But not a long freight train with a bunch of loaded cars. That's a lot of weight, a lot of momentum and takes a long time to stop.
