Just wanted to clarify this is *THE* original "To be Derpy is to be Perfect" video (I can't say if others haven't vidded her to this song before but I believe I'm the first to pair the character and the song) but I got a rather rude message from someone claiming I stole this video when it clearly said in the info of the other video that I was the original creator and it was a repost (also pointed out the glaring difference in the dates posted and number of views and 'surprisingly' that person never replied back -_-)
As long as someone gives me credit and doesn't try to claim my work as their own I don't really mind reposts, splicing up and using for parts is another story but just wanted to clear the air a bit there

I had initially started this video after the whole "Derpy Controversy" after the release of "The Last Roundup" when Derpy Hooves was addressed by her fanon name and even given a speaking role! I watched that episode and thought to myself 'how awesome that a shows production staff actually listens to the fans!"
But I also knew that someone was going to pitch a fit over how Derpy was portrayed. And low and behold, I was right- people complained and the episode was pulled from all official areas and so I started this video. However, when it seemed things had calmed down I put this on the back burner until I finally got around to checking into Equestria Daily and heard the news that "The Last Roundup" had been re-released but with Derpy's name taken out of script, her voice reworked and her trademark eyes 'fixed' and I quickly finished this video.

What angers me isn't that they changed 'fanon' because we all know that doesn't have any real baring (unfortunately) but that people precieved Derpy as offensive. What, can I ask is offensive about her? Were any of the other characters laughing at her or picking on her? No, they just accepted her as she is, sure they might be a bit frustrated maybe but who doesn't get frustrated with others from time to time? I'm guessing that people found it offensive because they thought that the show was making fun of Derpy but really, I just saw her as another character.

Maybe it's of the song & Derpy being in it. It's saying

"Hey world. This is me & I want you to accept me for who I am. I am not be smart but I am perfect no matter what"

We should accept people for who they are. If Derpy was real I'd accept her as a friend. Sure she'll make some mistakes but she'll learn from them

We all make mistakes and we all have people that get frustrated with us, even in the best of times. Derpy has become a symbol of acceptance and a mascot for the good that bronies embrace- love, tolerance, friendship. She's not perfect but nothing and no one is. Its because Derpy's imperfections are very noticeable and visible that she's become such a lightning rod for so many things. I think her being visible and in the open is an important thing
