Another run through Master of Magic, this time with spellbooks of 4 colors (hence the title of "Rainbow"), at Impossible Difficulty!
As stated in the introduction to the previous Master of Magic walkthrough series I posted, Impossible Difficulty is, well, difficult in the extreme - all the more so if a player doesn't cheat or use exploits. "Exploits" include using saved games and reloading repeatedly to alter a past event, or get a desired spell (such as a Summon Hero/Champion-type, or Disenchant Area/Disjunction-type) to work to the player's desire.
Here, I present a single playthrough without using cheats or ANY exploits, at Impossible Difficulty, again using High Men, with a setup that should net a higher score than my last one. The index is as follows:
- Part 1-4: the first 40 minutes of the game
- Part 5: First Strike against the most powerful enemy wizard, Sss'ra, on Myrror.
- Part 6-7: Mass Banishment, a.k.a. my all-out offensive against all the wizards begins
- Part 8-9: Cracking the toughest nodes in the game (Part 8 also contains a tip on levelling up heroes quickly)
- Part 10: Endgame and the Spell of Mastery, and a new High Score!!!
Again, this walkthrough demonstrates certain tactics I favor (such as finding, and crippling, the mightiest opponent first). Here in Part 1, I have opted to start using the approach that keeps both units in the city to maximise gold income, and using Magic Spirits to explore the map quickly.
