Considering that this particular lineup (and, for me, the definitive one) had only been together for a couple of months, after the tragic death of Martin Lamble, it's amzing how tight the playing is.
Plus, of course, it's great story!

@jscoupal I see the misunderstanding as I found my original post. What I meant was where's Swarb's voice? He's not just the violin player, but also is known to sing a bit as well. Oh, and it's not the What We Did lineup without Lamble on this album--Fairport's "other" lead singer is missing

@jscoupal I'm a little confused here.I have this LP on vinyl & (bought it when it first came out)I know every word to every song on it.If I said somewhere that Denny or Swarbrick aren't on this album,I must have posted where I didn't mean to.Thompson is great (I still catch him when I can), but Donahue is equally skilled.I think that Sandy was given to much time at the mic at the expense of Swarbrick's great tenor though.

@ngiyaxolisa: And, for that matter, Sandy's on here too, along with the entire "What We Did on Our Holidays" lineup (except for the late Martin Lamble). As far as I'm concerned, any lineup with both Sandy and Richard Thompson is "definitive," and I think most Fairport fans would agree.

@ngiyaxolisa Where's Swarb? Um, on virtually every track! Listen to the song again--who do you think is playing the violin part??

This is fantastic.

@catweasel28 Sorry, but I have to disagree with the "definitive" lineup. Ian MacDonald (AKA Mathews") and Sandy on "What We Did etc.)? That was a lineup! Seriously, can we compare the lineup and music of this album with that of "Full House" or " 9" or any other Fairport? Where's Swarb?
