Brad began experiencing symptoms of mental illness when he was 14 years old. By 19, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and began receiving treatment at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences. Brad's journey to recovery was gradual, and now he lives independently in the community and is working towards a university degree. Brad continues to receive support from his treatment team as an outpatient of Ontario Shores.

"It's a tough one to swallow, admitting that you have a mental illness, but having trust in the hospital staff will get you better faster. The other thing is that you shouldn't feel ashamed. It can happen to anyone and having symptoms now doesn't mean you'll have symptoms in the future." Brad.
