April 1, 2008 -- Eight days before this video was shot, a city envelope full of campaign postcards for Cindi Hutchinson was returned to City Hall with a bad address. Here Commissioner Christine Teel brings this improper use of city resources to the City Commission's attention as Hutchinson sits silently by. Minutes after this episode, Hutchinson would vehemently deny involvement in the unethical mailing to the press. Later she also denied it to political blogger Tim Smith, a former commissioner.
Two full days after this incident, Hutchinson decided to tell the truth. She issued a statement admitting than she had lied to the press and public, and that she had, in fact, mailed her campaign flyers using a city envelope and postage.
As the Sun-Sentinel wrote: "If she used deception to hide a $4.32 expenditure, what else won't she cover up?"
