Travel Sicily: Taormina, Siracusa, Mt. Etna

Language study travel is one of my favourite ways of travelling. In May of 2007 I spent one week in Taormina, one of Sicily's most beautiful towns. Together with an international crew of students I studied Italian at the Babilonia Language School and we went on a variety of excursions throughout Sicily, including the ancient town of Siracusa. I was also fascinated by Mount Etna, Sicily's most imposing topographical feature.

Sicily, an ancient mysterious island, is definitely one of the most fascinating places I have ever been to.

I had a day trip up Mount Etna in December and it was absolutely FREEZING. I didn't have appropriate clothing either. Loved the views!

I appreciate your comment. I actually loved Sicily, it's so authentic and not overbuilt like other Mediterranean tourist destinations. Taormina is amazingly beautiful, but I would recommend to go off-season because from what I hear it get's extremely busy during peak travel months. Good luck with your plans!
