  • It's our imperfections that make us special :)

  • This is not an alternate ending. It's a Coda. I'm glad it was left out. If would've been overstating the piont.

  • @skunktheshrink Voluntary eugenics are fine, as long as we don't become obsessed with it? What, are you still in high school, or just an ignorant that can make it in these idiot houses we call college today? Why don't you do some research and see if "voluntary eugenics" programs have ever been beneficial in all of history?

  • The movie is better without this scene, this happens to be an utterly biased representation. I think voluntary eugenic would be beneficial as long as we don't become obsessed(as is the case in this movie; i mean come on 12 fingers!) with it. Eg: parents who suffer from a genetic disorder may choose to adopt than give birth to children who are at a high risk of developing the same disorder .. its disheartening when a healthy individual suddenly develops schizophrenia (or the like).

  • They played this in the theatrical release i saw.

Do our limitations limit us, or push us to overcome them?

  • If these cheap moralistic lines were really in the script, than thank god they were cut out. Would ruin the whole film.

  • @Omni43949268 Well the movie gets people to think about these things, and see different points of view. That's what I mean. Of course I would support genetic research in the case of your friend. Absolutely.

  • @squamish4244 Basically I agree with you, especially with the last sentence. However, I have a negative experience with genetic diseases. A friend of mine has Marfan syndrome and when the doctors told him what his problem was, he became depressed. He even thought of suicide. Now he can't do any sport and he will probably die at the age of 40. And I think I would have reacted similarly in that situation.

  • @Omni43949268 It's not so clear-cut, in my view. I have personal experience with an ailment that has a genetic component and I feel my struggle with it it has made me a better person. I don't know if I would get rid of it if I could go back and do so. For others the answer would certainly be different. But that's why movies like this need to be made.

  • @NorthForkFisherman Their abilities made them what they were(/are), not their diseases. Hawking would still be able to use his hands without amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Joyner-Kersee would have won more medals without asthma. Addison's didn't make Kennedy more successful and Alzheimer's just ruined Hayworth's later life and career.

  • @Omni43949268 And how much of those lives would've been changed if they had not had to endure those afflictions? Would they have achieved so much in their time, or would they have just been average? Interesting questions, neh?
