Bill Maher misses the point in wishing Obama could be like Bush

I think the point still stands about Obama's lack of leadership. Agreed that Democrats that were bought for by the corporations had alot to lose from the public option, but he still failed to make them toe the party-line. He also failed to counter the GOP lies about the public option, and finally, after this video was made, gave up the option without a fight. So the conclusion is either he's a really bad politician, or he ballsed up on purpose. Corruption, plain and simple.

Bill Maher doesn't miss points.

trulyskewed,
Nearly 10 months after this, and your own argument about mandate (after Obama's election), and look what is about to happen on the Nov. 2 midterm elections.
Maher had it right about "bold."

So what companies announced their support for the war apart from the ones earning direct revenue from it?

Bill is supporting Obama for doing the same things he condemed Bush for doing. There all agendist and should not voice there skewed openions.

You don't have to listen to him then; go to the Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, whatever.....

I'm echoing Seldarin a bit here So because health care is hard it's ok that Obama is accomplishing nothing in Afghanistan, on getting gay Americans equal rights and on reforming American financial regulations? He laid the groundwork for a more effective containment of Iran last week which could become substantive, and his foreign policy rhetoric on the middle east has been a huge improvement, but overall President Change has been no such thing to date.
I don't think you understand my argument. But that's cool.

You are missing the point of what Bill is saying. He's quite simply saying that Obama needs to back up his policies with some balls, like Bush did.
And how can you show a list of corporations which profit from the Iraq war and use that as your basis for arguing that no corporations were against it?

My point was that corporations have huge influence in politics. There were a lot of people who stood to make money on an Iraq invasion, including people who talked to Bush every day. There was no corporate power standing up against the invasion that I know of. If I missed some, then please send me a list.
That contrasts sharply with some of the initiatives that Obama campaigned on. It takes less 'balls' to go with the flow of corporate power than against it - and that's what Maher missed.
