my understanding is that it can present in about 5 different forms according to dr Hale and his work at the university of victoria bc canada.

How old was this boy? If he can not assume he has the same amount of fingers on both hands, then he is just stupid. He should not have to count again, math does not matter here. He was already able to count the fingers on one hand.

I have dyscalculia, I was diagnosed when I was in college. can't make up equations for work problems. I can't remember formulas. I can't graph.

No basic feel for number...I retain numbers "verbally". I use my fingers to count. The sixness of six, the fiveness of five...so true...

I'm 39 and it wasn't more than a few years ago that I learned how to look at dice and recognize how many dots were on each one. I always had to count the dots.When my now 18 year old daughter was born I had to keep counting her little fingers. It was weird, I knew she had 5 and I knew she was supposed to have 5 but it didn't always look to me like there were 5 and sometimes my heart would jump out of my silly chest for just a second before reality took hold.
