picodrive sega emulator on PS vita

This is Half Byte Loader running the Picodrive emulator on the Playstation Vita, as a follow up to the Hello World that was announced a few days ago.

Usually I would show the entire loading process, but given the secret nature of the exploit and some of the loading process for now, I'm just showing some gameplay.

Please don't get your hopes too high. As you can read on my blog, Sony put into place some security that will basically make this exploit moot as soon as it is made available, so this is just useful for research right now, and just a "ray of hope"...

People who have used HBL in the past will recognize the distorted sound from Sonic, this is due to incorrectly estimated syscalls (the PSP emulator on the Vita is based on PSP Firmware 6.60, which has some enforced securities with syscalls). We might, or might not, fix this before the release.

This video was taken a year ago, at a time where running *any* homebrew on the vita was close to a miracle. Of course today it's easier for people like you, because people like me have released their work publicly. So I'm not sure I see your point. :)

And like I said, I would only want it [the PS Vita] if it played those systems as well as an emulator on a PC can... at present, I do rather well with NNNesterJ, Zsnes, Kega Fusion, VGBA-M (SVN926), Magic Engine, Mame 32, Project64, Dolphin, ePSXe with Joy2Key and the wireless Mayflash CC2USB adapter.

Maybe some people -grew up with- that kind of stuff and have fond memories of it, like you will eventually have fond memories of your Ekz-Bawx games when everyone else is hooked into The Matrix. If I could get the PSvita to run NES, SNES, Genesis, TG16, Mame and GBA as good as I can on my PC, I would buy one -just- to have portable emulation, I probably wouldn't even buy any actual games for it either.
