Crocodile and Snake Warning for Queensland, Australia

Floodwaters inundating northern Queensland, Australia have washed crocodiles onto the streets. Authorities have issued a warning to people to be on the lookout for animals as more rain and possibly a cyclone may be on the way.

STORY:
A crocodile measuring 1.6 meters, thats almost 5 and a half feet long, was run over by a car near Townsville on Tuesday the third.

Wildlife rangers say the crocodile lost a few teeth and suffered bruising but should make a full recovery after receiving medical attention.

Some 17 rivers are flooded. More than 1 million square kilometers of Queensland, Australia's second largest state, has been declared a natural disaster.

Some towns are virtually underwater and others will be isolated for weeks by floodwaters.

Thousands of homes have been declared flood-affected and the damage bill is around A$110 million.

An emergency shelter has been hurriedly set up at a local high school as people continue to be evacuated from their homes.

Another low pressure system off the coast may very well turn into another cyclone, bringing yet more rain to the region.
