There has always been a debate around high art vs. low art. Here I try to make the case that it shouldn't matter. I'm joined by my new roommate: Man in a Top Hat. He's weird.

    Super old guy.

Art is useful to psychologists and historians and gives the impression of culture and worldliness.

Some of it even looks nice.

Beyond that I think art is getting progressively more 'low' with the introduction of media with the purpose of entertainment and societies desire for raw entertainment. Artists care less about meaning and more about possible revenue.

I wish I could be more specific and go into more detail with discussion of different types of art... But I'

  • @TheAnonymous185 I agree. I think it is getting more commercial, but maybe that is also because there is just so much more of it, and everyone is after their specific niche. YouTube, for an example, is a great outlet. There is probably no studio anywhere that would finance what I do every week, but with YouTube I am free to do what I want and upload it.

I want to write a lot more, but perhaps I will just do a follow up video next week.

  • Great video. ^__^

  • @jenhallphoto I'll start right now!

  • High and low art lines are blurred more than ever with the global communication that is the internet. I don't think it's a matter of hight and low art, or intelligent or unintelligent art- we all consume both now. A man that just purchased a $100,000 painting might also watch Jersey Shore OR a creator of South Park might take in openings at the MOMA. I think we live in an amazing time as artists because of this blur--- Quick Maddog53 make your Schindler's List on YouTube THE TIME IS NOW!
