What Tax Cuts were those? What things were they cutting? Was it only for that year? What about the year after that? Where is the Law (Tax Reform Law) that President Reagan signed? Why is it called an Act? What is an Act? What do you mean Top Tax Rate? I don't get it!! What is going on?!!??

In 1981 Congress enacted the largest tax cuts in US history: approximately $750B
over six years. On Oct 26, 1986 President Reagan signed into law the Tax Reform Act, in which the top tax rate was lowered from 50% to 28% : the lowest it had been since 1916. R Reagan: Rich Guy Republican.

@willypdyer If it 36%. Actually, the man to cut the top tax rate the most in American history is a guy named John F. Kennedy, yes, that liberal icon.

Hey Obama, instead of standing up for fudgepackers, stand up for Americans. It is radical democrats who ironically call themselves progressive that cling to these social programs of the past & do not help eliminate poverty, they encourage it. If you refuse to change the social programs they will be gone altogether because America will be bankrupt. But hey, fighting for the end of don't ask don't tell was more important than saving America's finances. Obama is a failure.

Pressures on states, including the cuts" Most people know that Bush has put all the cut in place and there is not much you can do about it. However, keeping the American people well informed helps them to adjust to the unjust cut and make a adjustment in their living due to your timely informed information on the budget cuts.

I recently heard that the tax rate for the 'rich' used to be like somewhere between 50-90%
