  • Holy F**k Mick, even Satan thinks this version is a bit too dark.

  • omg i think i prefer this version to the original one...

it's heavier, tougher, colder, really like an ancestor of hard rock...and addictive

haha i knew these guys were geniuses but we have another proof of it!

  • To all those who think this is a different version it half true. It is the same as the released version only it is in its work in progress stage. Already edited down to from the 8 minute multitrack but with a rough remix and a later aborted vocal attempt.

  • How many different clip of this song are out there? They show how Gimme Shelter evolved from an idea to music.

  • THere is some LFO modulation on the vocal, probably a Leslie rotary speaker that makes it sound extremely creepy.

  • Miss those background vocals...always gives me the chills when she screams.

  • totally awesome version, but can anyone authenticate that it is the vocals of mick and Kieth? or a vocal dub over by another band?

either way it is great, but sure would like to know!

  • @3d3a3v3i3d Mitch Ryder and Grand Funk Railroad do very good covers.

  • @mybalzurchin too bad that any other versions except the ones from The Rolling Stones are crap...

  • Captures the darkness of the era.

  • This is the real, real " Gimme Shelter." Thanks for posting. This one has the knife- edge quality, a visceral shout-out. This is quintessential Stones of the era, more raw. Things got grittier as the Sixties progressed and this version reflects that.

  • This is so hardcore. no sugar coating. That's the stones .
