Prison sentences in america are even more ridiculos than in eu. You get 20 years for stealing television in us and in eu you get 5 years from murder

IMO I'd say the reason is a mixture of the war on drugs, untended poverty and easily accessable drugs.

It all adds up to people having no money, turning to drugs to make money and using guns to fight for territory etc.

Not saying removing guns would fix the problem, it wouldn't but it would be a hell'ova lot less fucking volatile.
