This is a second short film of some of the entries for the Boscombe Beach Hut Competition June 2009. Bournemouth Council won £450,000 in a National Competition, by making a presentation for the Cultural Development of Boscombe, Included in the proposal are Iconic Beach Hut Designs for Disabled People, an Art Trail, a Visitor Centre, an Orientation Table and dramatic lighting for the most interesting architectural features in the Boscombe Precinct and Royal Arcade.
This film show some of the 150 entries received from all over the world. £100,000 will be available to construct four of these beach huts to the winning design, and all the work must be completed by March 2010 to qualify for the funding.
Future plans for Boscombe may include the use of the Royal Arcade and Boscombe Precinct rather like Covent Garden in London, with Street Music, Opera, Performers etc, and the possibility of an Artists Quarter with Café Culture and Artist Studios and Galleries adjacent to the shopping area. In the years to come Boscombe will be the place to be!
