(Watch in High Quality) 9"x12" oil painting on 110lb painting paper by the artist and poet Ladessa Sullivan. From "The Wild Seed Collection". Video created and edited by the artist.

Artist Notes: Sometimes I paint on heavy weight paper when I get that urge for a quick release. I apologize for not recording how I applied the texture in the preparation of the painting but it was a "wild" musing, so I didn't initially intend to record this piece. As usual I had so much moving through me and I needed to release artistically.

About "Without Wings": We exist. Beat up, broken and bruised. Yet still.

Dedicated to the suffering and the good natured.

If you have anything you'd like to know about the painting, tools or the process, please do so by leaving a comment.

  • Another great painting--a perfectly imperfect person. When you were showing the materials in the beginning I was saying, "Is she doing a painting or setting up a Meth Lab?" :-) Either way, still dope.

  • welp, lol, it's not a game! That's all I can say. Those were the materials needed for this oil painting.

  • You know, well, you know ..such and such ...I feel, I feel it. Pause. Well, I think without having too and your work right here has effortlessly moved my mind, pleasantly, again. You are multi-layered in the best way.

  • Thank you darlin. I love your comments. For some reason they always tickle me!

  • what a wonderful talent you are ladessa. i enjoy your art very much. peace girl.z

  • Thank you ziggurni... you're not so shabby yourself. This comment really made me feel good. There was a time when I wouldn't even label myself an artist! Can you believe it?! I guess that's a testimony for all of those who love to create but haven't yet accepted the label of the artist. Sharing with others helps a lot to cross that threshold. lol. Ps. I hope to see more work from you in 2009! Happy New Year.

  • i enjoyed this. maybe one day we can do a show of our work together.

  • awe, thank you for saying that. As intimate as I am with the world, I don't always feel that returned, but when you and others come here and watch and speak with me it makes a world of difference in my life. I apologize for not getting back to you on the anger management vid. I asure you it wasn't on purpose... too many projeects in motion. I need you to send me a treatment idea in a message, and I can also send you my phone #. I'm contacted easiest that way.

  • Dnygmatic... indeed. that's a great way to look at it. I like that.

  • so sweeet! I couldn't reply because youtube started giving me comment errors. This piece really is something new. You know i can never get so defined or attached to just one style. I have to spreed my wings... no pun intended. I can only hope that the fact that Ladessa did it ties all of my work together cohesively. I think it's important that artist hang onto their freedom so that they don't get stuck in a rut of "this is what's expected of me".

  • Thank you akiey. Yeah, there's a lot of materials that go into these works. lol. I hope to grow and expand even further into my crafts. It really pleases me when people appreciate artist. Blessings to you and all of your design projects.
