Nicole Minetti was defined as "madrelingua inglese" so when she was interviewed by the CNN, I was curious to see how good her English was.

  • You can't use 'much' in place of 'very' to modify normal adjectives like 'different', but you are right that there are some situations where this combination is possible--especially in questions and negatives, eg. "it isn't much different to...".

    Instead 'much' can be used to modify:

    1) past participles eg. "he was much amused", especially in formal style;

    2) comparatives and superlatives eg. "it was much better".

  • i guess only native british ,ozzies, irish scottish, canadians kiwis south africans and americans can defined themselves as mother tongue

  • @savether

    With English becoming a world-language, some people manage to reach a level where their English is almost indistinguishable from a native speaker's. This is a prestigious achievement (outside English-speaking countries), which explains why such a claim was made for Minetti in an attempt to rehabilitate her with the Italian public.

    But does that claim have any substance?

  • So critical! She speaks better English than most native speakers

  • Right, and you are all talking and complaining on about what, now? I don't care to read the comments, but who the FUCK cares? Look at her people! Just hit mute and start whacking away.

  • @anderg77 Ok, and are you also hard of hearing?

  • @viharsarok I am English.

  • @anderg77 You said that her accent was "very good". How is this very good, dude? Have you ever heard a good English accent?

  • @viharsarok I did not say that she sounds like a native. I speak Italian and I am very familiar with how Italians sound when they speak English. She does not sound Italian but yes, there is a non-native accent there and she definitely makes mistakes. You need to improve your own English comprehension it seems.

  • @anderg77 Very good accent? Even I can hear that she is not native. Her English is mediocre at best.

  • yea so...,english isn't her native language...great...ur point is...manny pacqiao can barely speak it...i don't see his video up here...and this girl has boobs to add to that
