From a certain standpoint, the Franks have the games best bonuses. Free farm upgrades is always a good thing, they get free hit points for knight line, and 25% cheaper castles. They get a good balance between bonuses for military and economy. They have poor archery however, but who needs it when you can build much stronger infantry with axe throwing :) Those axemen can really lay the smack on other units, even other knights. I played them once, I built like 8 castles. Got a huge score.
