Last year I wrote "Ogg Nayboomer and the Fla'arns of Tra'al". it was inspired by an XKCD comic in which Randall posits that the quality of a Sci-Fi/Fantasy story is inversely proportional to the number of words made up by the author.

  • So a question that came to mind is: Did you start with a version that used plain English words then replaced them for then end product, or were the made up words there from the beginning? Or does answering that question spoil the whole darned thing?

  • I started with made up words right from the start, although I did build up a little vocabulary in a separate file (which I have since deleted). I made an effort to (A) only make up nouns and adjectives. (B) not use any real nouns and adjectives. (although I think I may have slipped up a little on both of those rules).

  • Man, my camera sucks so much!
