  • How long it takes depends on whether they give you contrast or not. I get an MRI every year and it takes about 45 minutes. They give me oral sedation (Ativan). I also ask them to put a washcloth over my eyes so I can't see how confining the machine is.

I don't bother with the music because you can't really hear it well because the machine is loud and you're stuck with two noises LOL. Thankfully, with brain MRIs they don't have to put me through the entire machine. I'd be in a full blown panic

  • @Reviewcam2003 Yeah Joanne said it was pretty darn loud in there!

  • my MRI took 50 minutes just for my foot and ankle :( and i wasn't moving or anything so if I had moved it would of taken longer. since i wasn't moving for so long i felt like i couldn't breath at some points, and my back seized up a little.

  • @emlove748 Sounds a bit rough. I don't think Joanne's one lasted that long.

  • Hi! Do you remember how she felt in there? Any dizziness or suffocation fellings metnioned? I'm going for a scan soon enough and I would realy like to be informed. thx.

  • @MrAlexdive She was ok. Just said that it was really loud.

  • I hate MRI scans. Everytime i go, they take forever to prep up. I remember being put in, then taken out three times. It took them just over an hour to scan my knee bone ._.

  • @blades1975 that was cool they gave her headphones to wear. all the machines i've been in,they only gave earplugs. fortunatly for the last one i had Back in January I was soo doped up from all the medicine I had while in the hospital getting a new shunt for hydrocephalus that i didn't hear anything. the only part i remember was being wheeled back to ICU (I coded my first night in the hospital)

  • @iBMXmyFit Wow, sounds like you had a full on machine. This is the only one we've had any experience with.

  • @colyn37 That's no good. Hope he's ok :)

  • @NSPride1488 Yep, we figured out it was a diet thing that was causing the migraines! No more Cocoa for Joanne!!
