An overview of population dynamics in general and the human population in particular. PAUSE the video to slow it down. I have to set it at a fast pace to keep it within their file size limits.

  • @Apple6128 shut up retard!

  • bogus! this lecture looks only at "contraception" and "choice" though the "demographic transition" as environmental resistance to human population growth. These are NOT determinants of population size. This lecture ignores the number one factor in population size: food supply! Global food supply levelled off and has begun a gentle decline in the 21st Century. With peak oil, we'll see a crash over the next two decades. Lastly, Africa and other developing nations are not the major consumers!

  • I always wondered why all population predictions for humans seem to level off so nicely at the end. Is there no scenario in which we have a population crash, because that is usually what follows a prolonged exponential increase. Any ideas?

  • cool 49999999/50000000

  • Excellent presentation. It would be nice to have some explanation to accompany it, however. Still, good information, such as the relation between K, S-curves, J-curves, and its effects on population size.
