Ms Duffys songwriter , producer and fantastic guitarist Bernard Butler with his previous "Singer" in a legendary performance live on Jools Holland ..
Some great over the top guitar work at the end from Bernard Butler that matches McAlmonts theatrical vocals these pair were such a great combo .
Maybe Duffy , McAlmont and Bernard can revitalise some of thier classics

With all this interest in Duffy at the moment its forced me to dig out some of my Bernard Butler videos .

Duffy related as ex Suede guitarist Bernard Butler is her song writer and producer as well as being a fantastic guitarist .

His songs always managed to bring out the best in Mc Almonts voice in thier partnership and they do the same for Duffy .

Im also a great lover of Phil Spector and Roy Wood style of "wall of Sound" productions and Bernard Butler seems to be able to always pull it off and remind me of that stuff.

  • I never get bored of coming back to this Video 14,000 views is sad.......all those people missing out on a legendary performance......

  • Well 14,000 aint bad but the other version always got more hits and its at 70,000 here on my channel alone now so its good exposure for a song of this age .

Classics sometimes sleep for a few years until the style returns or some new and covers them

Might be a difficult one though to cover without another incredible voice : )

  • This makes a good 'pair' to The Mighty Wah's 'Story of The Blues' somehow, both great performances

  • Words can not express.

  • Love this track....still sounds great after all these years!!

  • The son of Predator & Grace Jones......

  • @fuaim This song does the same for me...quite unique, so unique in fact that I can't play it in the car anymore (too many near misses!)

  • THIS SONG HAS A COMPLETELY UNIQUE EFFECT ON ME NO OTHER SONG GIVES ME THE FEELINGS THIS ONE DOES THANK YOU MCALMONT & BUTLER BLESS YOU!!!! XXXX

  • I remember sitting here watching this show and not being bothered when Jools mentioned these guys coz I didn't know who they were.

My ears soon pricked up when I heard McAlmont start to wail and Butler start to riff!

"Was totally impressed" is an understatement!!!!

Pity they did the one album only, although summit in back of my mind saying that they might've made a second one about 5 yrs later?

  • @crimsonrush

Hundreds of other guitarists of his generation who also have their moments in all sorts of music genre's but if this is just about the Brit guitarists then around his time a few Brit guitarists would be John Squire , Johhny Marr , Stephen Craddock a lot depends on the music you like but really there are hundreds of guitarists - what is your point ?

  • @smicers Who are the other guitarists of his generation then?

  • One of the best performances I have ever seen..Never get sick of this song or this actual pperformance of it...Bought it as soon as I heard it and it is still magic...Maybe one of the best songs ever written?
