Owen's a bit too young yet to know what the PreCD world sounded like, but he likes the sound of the Pre73. Inspired by the sound and circuit design of the Neve 1073 solid state mic preamp, the Golden Age Pre73 eschews modern IC chip design in favor of old-school discrete component design for natural, vintage warmth and punch. @SmoothJazzApprClinic You are correct. A "guy" is a male person. In American slang, people often refer to items (such as a preamp) as a "guy" or a "gal." There is no specific reason why one does this, or which term ("guy" or "gal") one uses.

Great Demo real audio kudos very natural... the mic pre is the most important step in quality audio... you can have the best mic's in the world but if you are recording thru a cheep mixer or interface, you are doing your mic's no favors, i rather use a cheep sm57 thru a 50,000 or beyond console, then a U-87 straight into a inferior mic pre. a friend of mine asked if a good mic pre would help his recordings, i said here just take this 109$ Tube Pre and a pre 73. unbelievable, he bought both.
