This video was made by a Girl Scout who received her Gold Award for this project. Her goal was to encourage her generation and others to learn how to help rescued dogs, specifically dogs rescued from puppy mills. For more information, VISIT THESE WEBSITES:
This video is very good. It has excellent information--and I am going to complain about Puppy Mills which don't even help us in any way. and yes, adopt--don't shop.
i rescue a dog from a street last year on new year eve i did not know she was having puppy until my vet told me that so after she had and her puppy i went through a rescue and found home for all 6 puppy after that i had my dog fix so she would not have any more puppy people she not breed dogs there too many at the shelter and they have to put a lots of them down we need to stop puppy mills
Adopting a rescue dog is not for everyone, but anyone that can & will provide a good home for a dog, researching the breed, whether a rescue or new puppy, making a good choice for their home, & realizing that most dogs can live 12-14 years, should be allowed to get a dog from a good source. Buyer beware is ALWAYS a good thing. Good to see the girls scouts teaching about good breeders, too!
Glad to see that this isn't one of the videos that bash ALL breeders. Too often, that is the message, you shouldn't be allowed to buy a puppy from someone who cares about what they are doing, & takes care of their animals. I do rescue, & see dogs from substandard facilities, & it breaks my heart too, but we need to all work together to support those who do, so that we can continue to get puppies from good sources.
Bravo, great job! I am a foster home for one or two dogs at a time, some are owner turn-ins and some are former mill dogs but it is all rewarding. Seeing one of these dogs finally starting to trust a little and then, to love, is the most amazing thing! Well done!
I agree, there is nothing sadder than seeing a helpless animal being treated so cruelly for greed. If you are interested, you should look into the rediculous cruelty that animals face to be our food, it is equally as sad and preventable. Make sure that if you are going to eat meat, dairy, and eggs, that they come from "free range" sources. It may cost a little less but you will sleep better at night. All life deserves humane treatment. Great job getting the word out about our furry friends!!
Nice job! Very informative and well done. Shelter dogs do make great pets. I rescued a dog from a shelter when I was growing up and we still have her yet today (almost 12 years later). She is an amazing pet and makes a great contribution to our family. I agree: ADOPT, DON'T SHOP!!!
