http://karlsakas.com/ The AAPRCO 2009 Convention special train departs Raleigh, North Carolina, heading north after refueling enroute from Savannah to Washington on November 8, 2009. The 20 PV ("private varnish") cars included: City of Spokane, Wisconsin, Greenwich Estate, Greenwich Harbor, Federal, Vista Canyon, Diablo Canyon, Promontory Point, Oliver Hazard Perry, Birch Grove, Burrard, Sierra Hotel, Dover Harbor, Pacific Sands, Scottish Thistle, Cannonball, Northern Dreams, Northern Sky, Chapel Hill, and Georgia 300. Locomotives were Amtrak P42 #205 and Amtrak P42 #67.

  • Any photos or video from Bonsal? The AAPRCO special train stopped in Raleigh for about an hour, to refuel at the Amtrak station on W. Cabarrus Street.

    Amtrak needs new intercity cars. Although with their new plan to mass produce the San Diegan Superliners, that might fill the spot.

  • I wonder how this might look when Amfleets take up their spots among the private varnish. (Yeah, it can happen. The design is old enough as it is already and it's time for Amtrak to move on to something new.)
