Randall J. Schroeder has made the Periodic Table so simple a kid can understand it! By using the 'Schroeder electron Vacancies' anyone can see why pairs and octets (8) of e-s are the key to the element's combinations and ratios found in compounds. (kids a syoung as fourth grade classes and individuals as young as kindergarten have been able to 'fill in the e- blanks since the mid 90's! It's all the tiny electrons NOT the bigger protons and neutrons that are involved in the 'Chemical Reaction'. Molecules that use more valence (outermost) e-s than the octet are traced back to the original octet and placement on the periodic table. You can finally believe that the periodic table DOES make chemistry easier to learn and understand...."Once and FOREVER!" See much more at {ScienceIsGOlden.com} more????... Counting e-s is the key point balancing reactions and knowing teh compounds.Calcium oxide is written CaO but you have to know that there are two e-s for each whereas NaCl is one electron...Now when you hear Magnesium chloride you don't get to see it written to show htat htere are two e- for magnesium so you need TWO chlorines to make the compoun dfround in nature MgCl2 (I would grade papers at the COllege of Marin and studnet from honors high school classes would write it backwards Mg2Cl (instead fothe correct MgCl2) so there went ten points on a test and down a grade level...students would drop chemistry after the first test and they were jsut doing hte metric conversions (algebra) and say "I hate chemistry!" but never got past he algebra!) so it's not that chemistry is hard it's the way they teach it!
